1997 – 1999 Extended History
WORK IN PROGRESS
In 1997 I started 5th grade at middle school at Meridian Middle School with a new mentality. After dealing with the bullying in 4th grade, I made it my retaliate with force if I were to be disrespected. Within the first week of school someone tried to insult me and I immediately retaliated by starting a fight. It happened again later, and I retaliated in the same way and got the respect that I deserved. I began forming new friendships and finally got acclimated to a Chicago. My reputation grew and the bullying completely stopped, making my life far better. Every single year through high school I ended up geting into a fight with someone, just to prove I mean business and I’m not to be messed with. Slowly, I actually began to enjoy Illinois and the fast-paced ruthless nature of people in it. I believe it shaped who I am today.
I joined band and played the trumpet and was also involved with sports with tennis and soccer. Video games were still a big part of my life and in the 5th grade I was addicted to Pokemon, like every other 5th grader. In the 5th grade I was also briefly into watching anime, creating my first internet AOL screen name of “anime6590”. By the 6th grade I had grown out of anime and got into online computer games. When Starcraft came out in 1998, I was immediately hooked and spent hours playing it online. I was also a member of boy scouts and absolutely loved the experience, the camping trips, nature, and everything that was associated to it.
I created my first website in the 5th grade for a. Because I was so interested in making a website, in 1997 I decided to pick up a book from the library and learn HTML on my own. I hosted the website on GeoCities and I can’t even remember what it was about. You could say this was the start to a real empire.
WORK IN PROGRESS
In 1999 I started at Aptakisic Junior High for 5th and 6th grade and to say this wasn’t a very eventful period of my life. I never really liked school much so I took every opportunity possible to try to skip school to spend time on the computer. In 2000, the game Diablo II was released and I learned what addiction really meant. I spent countless hours playing the game and began getting involved with various online hacking and disucussion forums that focused on the game.
Because of the popularity of Diablo II, the in-game virtual items actually had real value. Because I was involved with the hacking community and close to several skilled hackers I learned the technique of “duping” items. I started to duplicate high value items and sell them on eBay. The business started small, making hundreds of dollars a week which was pretty good for a 13 year old.
